FAQ

What services do you offer?

We specialize in dialect coaching, accent reduction and performance coaching for actors, voice actors, productions, as well as business professionals. For more details please select from the SERVICES menu in the navigation bar.

What is your method/technique?

For actor dialect coaching we typically review the 'rules' of the accent/dialect so you have a clear understanding of why it sounds the way it does and how to reproduce the specific sounds effectively.  We then work directly with your project sides/script, applying what you've learned to the specific material you'll be using.

For accent reduction/modification, we focus on real speech rather than textbook examples of English, which typically don't help you to sound American. We will cover certain rules and principles to make sense of what characterizes the Standard American accent, and then apply those principles to real-life conversation. For actors, we will use your project material when applicable. For business professionals, we will include terminology and situations specific to your line of work.

How long will it take?

This depends very much on you and your specific goals. If you are an actor preparing for an audition, one session is typically sufficient. If your goal is to acquire an American accent (accent reduction), then it will of course be more of a process. Variables include past experience, how talented you are in hearing and reproducing sounds, and how much work you're willing to do between sessions. Feel free to contact us to discuss your specific needs in more detail.

Where are you located?

We are based in Los Angeles. We are available locally in person, or globally via Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, or telephone.

We are also available for location/on-set coaching. Please contact us for our office address and further details.

Do you offer online coaching?

Yes. We regularly work with many students via Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom. Internet connection speeds vary, however we have found that our online video coaching is extremely effective and typically as good as working in person.

Do you allow recording of sessions?

Yes. We encourage recording of sessions. For online video sessions, we recommend Zoom, which has built-in recording capability.

What are your fees?

Individual private lessons are available by the hour and half-hour. On-location coaching is typically based on full- or half-day sessions. Please contact us for a specific quote.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We use Square and accept all credit cards, as well as cash or checks.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 12-hour notice of cancellation for weekday sessions, and 24-hour notice for weekend and holiday sessions. Cancellations without proper notice are responsible for the full session rate.
